Fight for digital education: Saarland's minister calls for financing offensive!
The President of the Conference of Ministers of Education (KMK), Christine Streichert-Clivot, is emphasizing an agreement with the federal government to finance digital pact 2.0. The plan stipulates that the program will start in the coming year. At the moment, however, there is still no negotiating breakthrough, since no financing proposal is anchored in the federal budget. "It doesn't make it easier for us," said Stranzert-Clivot. Parents, pupils and school authorities urgently need planning security, while the budget negotiations are running in the federal states.
Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger has proposed to finance the digital pact 2.0 from 2025 to 2030 with a total of up to five billion euros, whereby the federal states should bear half. However, this announcement encounters resistance because the countries consider it insufficient. In order to continue to advance digitization measures in schools, a sustainable financing concept is required. The first digital pact that expired in May had covered up to 90 percent of the costs from the federal government, while only 50 percent are now being promised. The situation remains tense and must be clarified urgently, as www.ariva.de reports .
