Saarland becomes the first federal state in the OIF - a historical accession!
The Saarland was the first German state of the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and will in future act as a observing member of the merger of French -speaking countries and regions. The State Chancellery in Saarbrücken announced this on Saturday after the decision was made at the 19th Summit of the OIF in Paris. So far, 88 member states and 32 observers belong to the OIF, and the Saarland is now part of the new additions, which also includes Angola, Chile, the Canadian province of Nova Scotia and the islands of French-Polynesia.
Membership of the Saarland in the OIF could strengthen the connection to French cultural and language communities. This event marks an important step for the Saarland, which wants to assert itself on the international stage and expand the French -speaking network relationships. Details on this decision include the article at www.evangelisch.de to read.
