Pension problem in Saarland: little income, low pension

In Saarland, a worrying picture is emerging for many employees: Despite years of hard work and regular contributions to pension insurance, the prospect of a reasonable pension for around 78,000 full -time employees is cloudy. After 45 years with consistently constant income, these would only receive a pension of up to 1,300 euros. This emerges from a current response from the Federal Government to a request from Sahra Wagenknecht, the founder of the party for social justice (BSW) and member of the Bundestag.

The alarming numbers show that in Saarland a total of almost 253,000 people would remain under this magical pension brand after 40 years of insurance. However, the Federal Ministry of Labor has reacted to the assumptions listed by Ms. Wagenknecht and emphasizes that the underlying calculations are unrealistic. It is expected that the average wages and thus the pensions have increased over the years, which could put the pessimistic numbers into perspective.

retirement age and obligation to contribute

The regulation of the retirement age in Germany has changed drastically since 2012. The regular retirement age is gradually increased from 65 to 67 years. In order to benefit from an old -age pension for long -term insured persons, 35 years of contributions are required. For the old -age pension for particularly long -standing insured persons, 45 years of contributions are necessary. Special regulations apply to vintages that were born before 1964 that have the opportunity to retire earlier and without discounts, provided they have paid for at least 35 years.

For everyone who was born from 1964, however, the regulation applies that even after 35 years of contributions, they have to reach the regular retirement age of 67 in order to be able to retire without deductions. With 45 years of insurance, on the other hand, there is the possibility to retire prematurely, which could be a significant relief for many.

consideration of old -age provision

These numbers throw a light on the challenges in front of which many workers in Saarland are facing. The reality that financial security in old age may not be sufficient even after decades of hard work is alarming. This could be particularly worrying for those who had no possibility for higher income or work in industries that are not well paid.

Various factors contribute to this worrying situation, including developments on the labor market, which are often characterized by uncertainties, and the fact that not all industries offer the same income opportunities. The problem discussed with regard to pension scheme not only hurts the individual, but also leads to a broader discussion about the justice and load -bearing capacity of the German pension system.
