Trains brake suddenly: lifesaver on tracks in Saxony-Anhalt!
On Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2024, there were dramatic incidents on the railway line between Wittenberg and Berlin when two trains were forced due to people in the track area. At around 5:25 p.m., a 55-year-old man from Eritrea was discovered, who was in the tracks. The train driver reacted quickly and was able to prevent a collision. The man was brought out of the danger zone by a police officer who was on the train and handed over to the state police in Luckenwalde unscathed. The track closure led to considerable delays on eight trains that made up for a total of 259 minutes.
Shortly afterwards, at 5:49 p.m., two men from Ukraine lightly crossed the tracks between Köthen and Wulfen. Another brake process of the regional express that prevented the worse. Fortunately, all 150 passengers and the two track crossers remained unharmed. The two men, 28 and 41 years old, were taken up by the police in Köthen and brought to the Federal Police Revier Dessau for identity and instruction. No train delays from this incident are currently known.
