Lack of staff leads to train failures at Abellio until the end of the year
The Privatbahn Abellio faces major challenges that are clearly noticeable in local Saxony-Anhalt. Passengers have to prepare for constant train losses by the end of the year, which according to information from the local transport service Saxony-Anhalt results from an acute lack of personnel. This situation could even have a consequence that the timetable has to be reduced if Abellio is not able to maintain stable operation. The company itself spoke of an exceptionally high failure rate that was largely influenced by the vacation time.
The effects on the commuters are enormous. Especially since summer, often at short notice, there have been failures in various train connections. The routes from Magdeburg to Oschersleben as well as Oebisfelde and Wolfsburg are particularly affected. These unreliable timetables not only ensure frustration among passengers, but also endanger the general acceptance of local public transport.
Inadequate service quality
Marc Blanck, the mayor of the unit community Oebisfelde-Weferlingen, commented in sharp words about the situation and described it as a "tragedy". The trains fall regularly, especially in the morning hours, which significantly affects the reliability and trust of passengers in local transport.
The problem described illustrates the far -reaching consequences of inadequate personnel. The situation is tightened by seasonal fluctuations in the staff, which are due to vacation times. For commuters, this not only means inconvenience, but in many cases also an increased risk of getting too late to work or appointments.
Future of the railway lines
With an additional dilemma, Abellio is faced: In the course of insolvency proceedings, the company has to hand in its railway lines in northern Saxony-Anhalt at the end of the year. From mid -December, a Deutsche Bahn subsidiary will take responsibility for these routes. The affected lines in the so -called diesel network II extend between Stendal, Wolfsburg, Magdeburg and the Harz, including the Salzland district. As part of the new contract, which applies until 2032, both the trains and mostly the existing staff are to be taken over.
The takeover of the routes could bring a turn for both employees and passengers. It remains to be seen whether this will actually lead to an improvement in the situation. However, it is clear that Abellio has to struggle with considerable challenges until the takeover, which are currently severely restricting the mobility of passengers.
