Emergency services in Schaumburg: Surprise exercise with 100 passengers!
In the district of Schaumburg, the night from Sunday to Monday has had a surprising emergency exercise for the emergency services! In a realistic scenario, a local train of the Westfalenbahn with over 100 passengers, which stopped between Lindhorst and Rehren, had to be evacuated. During the exercise, the overhead line fell on the pull roof, which required the mobilization of around 150 emergency services from the German Red Cross (DRK). Operations manager Philip Tölke was satisfied: All forces were ready at midnight.
In order to make the exercise as unexpected as possible, the extras who acted as passengers were obtained from the fire brigades in Hameln and Nienburg. This ensured that the message about the exercise was not spread early. The successful training emphasizes the operational readiness and the profound coordination of the rescue teams, which is of crucial importance in critical situations.
