Sylt election on Sylt: Who will be the new mayor - Haltermann or Gieppner?

On April 7, 2025, a runoff election around the mayor will take place on Sylt after no absolute majority could be achieved in the first ballot. The candidates for the runoff election are Tina Haltermann, who is independent and supported by the CDU, as well as Markus Gieppner from the "Die Insulaner" voters.

In the first ballot, Haltermann received 38.4 percent of the vote, while Gieppner was able to record 23.5 percent for himself. The election was necessary after the former mayor Nikolas Häckel was elected in September 2024. The municipality is currently being managed by Carsten Kerkamm (CDU).
