New café König's opens in Kiel: Soft ice cream, crepes and coffee await you!

On February 8, 2025, the new café "König’s" opens at Holtenauer Straße 146 in Kiel. The operator Sabrina Baumeister, who has been heading the ice king on the Kiellinie since 2018, is planning to offer a diverse selection of soft ice cream, crepes and various coffee variations. The ice king is known for its premium quality and its homemade crepes are also very popular.

Sabrina Baumeister took over the ice king in 2018 when it had existed since 2012. The new location in the former Arko branch was offered in August 2023, and builder is optimistic about being able to address a colorful mixed audience. The prices in the new café start at 2 euros for the smallest soft ice variant and 3 euros for a cinnamon-sugar crepe.

The café "König’s" should be open all year round from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. all year round with the possibility of extending the opening hours with increasing temperatures. A terrace and Sunday openings will also be planned in the future. In order to facilitate the pendulum movements between the locations, Baumeister rely on the use of e-scooters and will personally work in the new café in the first few months

In the same period, the Café König in Frankfurt, which is led by Sabrina Herber, sees itself confronted with other challenges. The café is located on the street in the green and is a popular meeting place for the residents. Herber is faced with the termination by the renting Frank Group, which was pronounced at the end of August due to a lack of reliability. Herber, who took over the café in June 2017 after the death of its aunt, knows 90 percent of its customers and reports that the café was economically successful, even though the Frank Group had asked for a new application that only received three months later.

The future existence of the Café König now depends on a court decision because the Frank group plans to initiate an eviction action. The city's economic development was also switched on by a regular customer to secure the supply situation in the district.
