Traditional Lübeck Sindbad starts to cross the Atlantic!

Lübeck, Deutschland - Leo de Cuveland started an exciting journey from the Lübeck museum port with its traditional sailor "Sindbad". The planned Atlantic crossing with two fellow sailors is expected to be facing this weekend. This crossing is part of the "Beyond Horizon" project launched in August 2024, which is devoted to the sustainable global part of the world over three to four years and offers young fellow sailors from all over the world.

The previous travel destinations by de Cuveland and his team include the Shetland Islands, the Faroe Islands, the Canary Islands and the Cape Verde. During the stay in the Canary Islands, numerous repairs were carried out on the ship, including the improvement of the standing estate of the large mast as well as the exchange of electrical devices and the filter system of the motor fuel system. But the journey was not without challenges, since there were unforeseen events such as the entrance of the anchor in a wreck and a diesel plague in the fuel tank.
