Queeres youth center in Lübeck threatened: police reacts too late!

Lübeck, Deutschland - in Lübeck caused an incident in a queer children and youth center when two men rang the doorbell and asked for a toilet. After they have been informed that there was no public toilet, the men expressed a remark perceived as inappropriate about the young people, which is considered a queer threatening of Moritz Grieprog, the state manager of the Lambda North Association. Grieprog also expressed concern for the safety of the facility, which is housed on an upper floor to protect against right -wing extremists. There are also people in the youth center who have not yet had their coming-out and need a safe space.

The two men, estimated in his mid -30s, left the scene after they could not use a toilet. The Lübeck police only became aware of the incident after about an hour, which is strongly criticized by Griepentrog. The police said that there was no initial suspicion of a criminal offense at the first emergency call and were not available for patrol cars. A patrol car was only sent after a second call, but without indications of an acute danger situation. In Schleswig-Holstein, the number of queer-hostile attacks increased from 15 cases in 2020 to 68 in 2023, with a fifth of these acts of right-wing extremist ideologies being assigned.

rising queer -anti -querus

As reports by the Lesbian and Gay Association of Germany (LSVD), hate crime is the most serious form of hostility to queer and aims to intimidate entire population groups. LSBTIQ*Personal (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer) are often endangered in public spaces. Visible LSBTIQ*identities can attract and motivate violent offenders, which significantly restricts the freedom of these people, since they often have to check their surroundings for potential dangers. In 2023, a total of 1,785 crimes against LSBTIQ*were registered in Germany, which is a significant increase compared to 2022 (1,188 cases).

In various federal states, including Berlin and Brandenburg, the reported queer -anti -pleing attacks have also increased. A total of 791 attacks were reported in Berlin in 2023, while the number in Brandenburg increase from 29 in 2022 to 51 in 2023. In view of these developments, politicians from the Linke & Gal faction call for a special meeting of the Committee on Security and Order to clarify the incident in the queer youth center and to question the behavior of the police.
