VfB Lübeck: coaching trap! Gewessens injured, the team is fighting!

VfB Lübeck started the first training session of the week on Monday. A total of seven training sessions are on the program this week, which end with an away game against Bremer SV on Sunday at 3 p.m. This game is not played on the Panzenberg in Bremen, but in 11th place on the Weser Stadium.

coach Guerino Capretti had the team trained for 80 minutes. However, some players could not take part in the training: Lukas Schmitt trained individually, Manuel Farrona Pulido was missing due to knee and calf problems and Julian Albrecht was only able to train half of the time due to a cold. Particularly worrying is the violation of Tom Geerkens, who suffered abdominal muscle strain in the game against Drochtersen, possibly even a torn muscle bundle and is currently not operational.

training plan and injury status

The training plan for the week is set as follows: On Tuesday, the team will train at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., on Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m., on Friday at 11 a.m. and on Saturday at 11 a.m. before it comes to the game against Bremer SV on Sunday.

Guerino Capretti, who has acted as head coach of VfB Lübeck since the 2024/25 regional league season, has made a name for himself in a short time. The 42-year-old is a German-Italian, owner of the football teacher license and signed a two-year contract with the association last weekend. Previously, Capretti had a relevant career as a player at clubs such as SC Paderborn 07 and Prussia Münster and built his coaching career at Delbrücker SC.

In his last position, he was chief coach of SC Verl for around five years, where he helped the club to promotion from the Regionalliga West to the 3rd division. Capretti now brings a fresh wind to the team to lead VfB Lübeck towards professional football. The sports director Sebastian Harms was positive about the cooperation and praised Capretti's communicative leadership style and modern training design.
