SPD in Husum: Participate in the focus with new start and housing construction!

On May 10, 2025, the State Party Congress of the Schleswig-Holstein SPD will take place in Husum. The party congress begins at 10:00 a.m. and includes, among other things, board elections. Serpil Midyatli, the current head of land, had received 65 percent approval in her last election. However, their position was questioned by the weak performance of the SPD in the state election. The SPD chairman Lars Klingbeil is expected for a speech, who acts as finance minister and vice-chancellor in the new black-red federal government.

The focus of the party congress also includes content, in particular on housing policy. The SPD plans the establishment of a housing association in the country and calls for a loosening of the regulations and an acceleration of the procedures in order to promote housing construction. Furthermore, a significant increase in funds for social housing is required.

re -election of Serpil Midyatli

At the last state party conference in Husum, Serpil Midyatli was confirmed with 65.02 percent of the vote in the office of state chairpersons. This corresponds to 132 out of 203 votes. Midyatli described the result as fair and honest and in her application speech emphasized the success of the SPD in the traffic light coalition in Berlin, including important issues such as the citizens' money, the minimum wage and the residential reform. At the same time, she expressed self -criticism regarding the result of the past state election and emphasized the need to draw the right conclusions from these results.

In her speech, Midyatli also criticized the state government and the Prime Minister and expressed that she had the goal of replacing black-green. In addition, she thanked the volunteer local politicians for their commitment and made it clear that the focus of the state management of the state board should be on the debate about more distribution.

The State Party Conference and the preparations of the SPD are therefore characterized by a new strategic orientation, while the party is preparing for the challenges of the upcoming local election, especially after the losses in the last state election, about which Midyatli spoke clearly in advance.
