Refugee debate in Reinfeld: How Hamidullah Areafi fights for fairness

In the discussion about migration and asylum in Germany, Hamidullah Aryfi, an Afghan refugee, expressed his concerns about the current debate and its effects on his life. AREFI emphasizes that the topics of migration and security dominate the election campaign and are often shaped by fear and polarization. He warns of the dangers of social generalizations and demands fundamental reforms that combine security with social cohesion.

AREFI also demands faster asylum procedures and stronger integration offers. He appeals to the democratic parties to act together against extremism and not be guided by fear. These statements come into the context of vandistic attacks in Bad Oldesloe and Reinfeld, where unknown perpetrators damaged nine bus stops and three cars with a compressed air weapon. The police have started the investigation and is looking for witnesses to the incident.

Another aspect of the migration debate concerns the radio contribution in Schleswig-Holstein. There are demands of cities to no longer collect the radio contribution for the NDR, which is due to high costs and emotional reactions on the part of the debtor. In contrast, North Rhine-Westphalia has changed responsibility for the enforcement of the contribution since January 2024.

Special regulations regarding the broadcasting contribution apply to asylum seekers. According to information, asylum seekers in shared accommodation do not have to register for the radio fee. When moving to your own apartments, however, you are obliged to register. Asylum seekers can be released from the obligation to contribute under certain conditions, for example if they receive services according to the Asylum Seekers' Performance Act or state social benefits.
