Gas line in Bamberg damaged: traffic chaos to Bau-Malheur!
On Tuesday afternoon, there was a dramatic gas leakage in Bamberg city center, when construction workers mistakenly damaged a gas line. At around 1 p.m. the police were alerted after the workers on the street on the Kranen wanted to expose a allegedly disused line - a serious mistake, because the gas flocked out promptly. Fortunately, the danger to the population was minimal; As the police said, there were no injuries because the line could be sealed quickly.
Despite the rapid reaction of the emergency services, the mishap of construction workers led to significant traffic disruptions. The entrance to the Lange Strasse had to be closed, which led to a traffic jam in the city center, especially around the fruit market. However, the police operation ended quickly and at 2 p.m. the detours could be normalized again. Stadtwerke Bamberg took over the repair of the damaged gas pipe.
