Debütromantiker Paula Steiner returns to Schweinfurt for reading
The return to Schweinfurt marks a special moment for the young author Paula Steiner. With her debut novel "Die Welt has blue hair", she is the focus of literary attention. A work that not only reflects her development as a writer, but also represents a tribute to her hometown.
After graduating from high school at the Celtis high school,Steiner returned to the city, which she found to be conservative for a long time, and found a new connection to her roots. This also becomes clear in her novel, whose action plays in familiar locations in Schweinfurt, such as the Rückert monument or the Roßmarkt. These places make a significant contribution to the atmosphere of history and give it an authentic note.
The protagonist and her inner search
The focus of the narrative is the seventeen -year -old Luisa, who struggles with her identity. Despite an existing relationship, she is secretly in love with the classmate Dunja, who has a symbolic meaning with her blue hair. This connection between Dunja and the title of the book illustrates that it is not only about the outer world, but also about Luisa's inner emotional world. Part of the narrative is a critical view of gender identity and the challenges that young people are facing today.Steiner explains that the characters in the book are deliberately exaggerated and clichéd. This is a means of making the complexity of interpersonal relationships tangible. Her characters are not necessarily likeable, but their exaggeration makes them appear all the more truthful.
The way to your own book
The author has filed her debut for five years. Steiner, who is currently studying at the Hildesheim Literature Institute, showed a talent for storytelling from childhood. Stories that she dictated her grandmother and poems from school laid the foundation for her artistic career. Later she collected recognition at Poetry Slams and wrote numerous texts that were published.
Finding the first publisher was a challenge. Paola had to wait four months for an answer, which for many writers often raised the question of the value of her work. Her debut novel was finally included in the Leykam Verlag, a sign that the literature is estimated by young voices. The response was positive, and even her family was thrilled with the work. The inner circle of the first readers included her mother and grandmother, who both could give valuable feedback. On Friday, September 13th, the book will be presented at the premiere reading in the Georg Schäfer Museum. This event attracts readers and those interested in literature and shows that Paula Steiner is not only a talented author, but also a voice that talks about topics that appeal to many young people.
