Overcome loneliness: funeral service for forgotten in Schweinfurt
Schweinfurt, Deutschland - In Schweinfurt, a moving funeral service for 17 deceased people without relatives was held on October 1st. Around 70 participants gathered in the sacrificial hall of the main cemetery who listened to the name of the deceased in silent awe and experienced the sound of "Sound of Silence", while Deacon Joachim Werb and Pastor Christoph Rupprecht led the ceremony. "We are here to accompany you," said Werb, giving those present a room to counter the loneliness of the deceased. Among the deceased were people aged 26 to 88, whose life stories are now remembered.
The initiative for this special ceremony comes from Werb, which, given the increasing poverty in old age in the city, pointed out the need for dignity in burial. These funerals were previously in a "struggling condition", for which the city administration and local undertaker are now working together. Werb plans a special burial site for the nameless deceased in order to enable the mourners a permanent commemoration. The urns are currently being buried anonymously. For more information about the funeral service and support, a donation account of the city church is available to cover the costs. Mehr Details dazu finden Sie here .
