Pride on the Main - Queer United: The first pride weekend planned in Schweinfurt
The Lower Franconia region is given a premiere in diversity and tolerance this year. After the successful Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Würzburg, Schweinfurt is now celebrating his first pride weekend under the title "Pride on the Main-Queer united". The association "Queeres Ufo e.V." Plant together with "Queer SW" from 19 to 21 July, events in both cities.
a growing LGBTQ+community in Schweinfurt
The constant increase in members from the Schweinfurt area has prompted the association to include the region in the planning. The open meetings and round tables serve queer people as a platform to network and exchange ideas. Vincent Steppert, first chairman of Queeres Ufo e.V., emphasizes the importance of these meeting points, especially for queer people in the country, who are often faced with prejudices.
celebration of the variety without moving
The Pride weekend starts with a queer service in Haßfurt and culminates in a festival of diversity on the market square in Schweinfurt. Here the CSD title is deliberately dispensed with in order to enable all those affected by discrimination to participate. Instead of moving, a varied stage program is offered, followed by a Pride party in the instead of the station.
future goals for more acceptance and visibility
The association is aiming not only to establish the CSD in the region, but also to do educational work and to help people help more visibility and acceptance. The organizers emphasize that queer people are not only present once a year and that it is important to take room in society without being afraid of rejection.
