Solidarity in motion: Oldtimer overpass to support Ukraine
An impressive convoy made his way to Ukraine to provide valuable support. Under the direction of Hans-Peter Goldnick, a committed member of the Rotary Club and senior boss of the Hornbrooker Hof, several volunteers from the Segeberg district went on a remarkable journey. Their mission was to deliver humanitarian aid in the form of vehicles and other important goods. The convoy leaves GEHMS and not only brings material support, but also hope and solidarity in a region shaken by conflicts.
It was a significant moment when the projects involved gathered in front of the vehicles to capture a last moment together before starting their long journey. The route led over 1,400 kilometers through Germany and Poland until they finally reached the Ukrainian city of Lwiw. In determined, they handed over three decommissioned fire engines and other vehicles to the representatives of the partner region of Tschernihiw.
the vehicles and their value
The convoy consisted of a total of six vehicles, including three fire engines, an ambulance and an Unimog. All vehicles were waited in advance by the Hornbrooker Hof and repaired if necessary. This shows the preparations and the use that flowed into this action. Goldnick himself was at the wheel of one of the fire trucks, accompanied by five other rotaries and members of the organization "Friends help! Convoy". Together they made their way through cities like Dresden, Opole and Krakow.
In order to make humanitarian aid as efficiently as possible, numerous donations in kind and funds came together in addition to the vehicles. A total of over 30,000 euros in donations and more than 70,000 euros of donations in kind were collected. Goldnick was pleased to be able to hand over the people in Ukraine worth over 150,000 euros. These include not only vehicles, but also important needs items such as hygiene products, walking aids and walkers.
solidarity and humanity
"We are all asked to help people in Ukraine," emphasized Goldnick. This statement reflects the community commitment that is expressed in this action. The support comes not only from the participants themselves, but also from a variety of organizations, including the Rotary Club Segeberg, Round Table 148 Bad Segeberg and the Lions clubs from the region. The city of Bad Segeberg as well as private individuals and companies from the area have also participated in the support.
The mission is further strengthened by a newly signed partnership with the Tschernihiw region. Already in March, twelve Ukrainian children and two supervisors had the opportunity to spend for ten days in the youth academy in Bad Segeberg. Activities such as visiting the Karl May games and excursions gave the children the opportunity to feel joy and experience carefree moments, which is particularly invaluable in such challenging times.
The humanitarian aid campaign is an example of the power of the community and the tireless efforts of the people who are willing to help others despite the challenges. As Goldnick correctly notes, each individual is asked to make a contribution to helping the people injured by war and conflicts. The support for Ukraine is not just a task for organizations, but also concerns us all, regardless of our background or our belonging.
common responsibility
In a time when war and conflicts burden countless life, this action reminds us that common responsibility and humanity are the key to a better future. It needs commitment and initiative, as the convoy in Nehms shows. Perhaps this is also an impetus for many to get involved in a similar way and to help where it is most necessary.
support and cooperation in times of crisis
The support for Ukraine has gained importance in recent years, in particular since the outbreak of the 2014 conflict and the escalation of the tensions in 2022. During this time, numerous organizations and local initiatives have come together to provide humanitarian aid. Many of these initiatives, such as the service clubs and Rotary organizations mentioned in the article, bundle their resources to support the needy people on site.
This type of cooperation is crucial because it not only makes the help more effective, but also forms a community based on solidarity and common values. The fact that new partnerships are always created shows the continuous commitment of the people who are committed to a fairer and more peaceful world.
The humanitarian situation in Ukraine
The humanitarian situation in Ukraine remains tense. After the outbreak of the 2014 war and the subsequent conflicts, the infrastructure in many regions is seriously damaged. According to reports from the United Nations, millions of people are dependent on humanitarian aid. In particular, the civilian population suffers from the consequences that are caused by persistent struggles, economic uncertainty and social unrest.
In addition, organizations such as Welthungerhilfe and the Red Cross are active to support the supply chains and to provide people with food, medical care and other vital goods. The aid projects, which are launched by various organizations, aim to cover both short -term and long -term needs of the affected population.
insights into the partnership with Tschernihiw
The new partnership with the Chernihiw region, which was signed in March 2023, has not only symbolic but also practical importance. It shows how local communities can be united to provide international help. The recent invitation from twelve Ukrainian children and their supervisors to Bad Segeberg is an example of the efforts not only to provide material help, but also to take into account the emotional and psychological needs of the children concerned. Such exchange programs help to strengthen understanding between cultures and to create a feeling of hope and normality for the children who live under difficult circumstances.
The experiences that the children have had during their stay in Germany are invaluable. You not only get access to basic needs, but also the opportunity to close new friendships and to recover in a safe environment.
In addition, the visit for the helpers and the host families was an opportunity to immediately experience the human aspect of the crisis and to understand what it means to live in a conflict area. Such personal encounters are essential to promote empathy and a deep understanding of other people's emergencies.
