Universities in financial emergency: Negotiations for the future secured

New university studies to promote the country's innovative strength

The high-ranking decision-makers of the universities recently met in Sigmaringen to discuss important topics that affect future financing and development of the educational institutions. A central point was the upcoming negotiation with the country through the financing of the universities. In view of the current economic challenges and limited resources, it is crucial to ensure the adequate financing of the universities.

Andrea Linke, Chancellor of the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences, emphasized the importance of a solid financial basis for the educational institutions. She underlined the unique combination of research expertise and practical experience in the courses at universities for applied sciences. Through the development of new future -oriented courses, universities want to awaken the interest of young people in an application -oriented study and thus contribute to the innovative strength of the country.

In the discussion of the Chancellors, topics such as digitization, personnel, law, finance as well as climate protection and area management were also addressed. In addition to the technical exchange, the Chancellor board also attached great importance to personal exchange of experiences. By sharing best practice, universities can increase their efficiency and learn from each other, says Andrea Linke.

A special highlight was the tour of the Hohenzollernschloss, organized by Bernadette Boden. The participants were personally greeted by Karl Friedrich Fürst von Hohenzollern. The evening ended with the adoption of three former chancellors who retired. Uwe Heinle was welcomed as the successor to Gerhard Weik, who left the Rottenburg University of Forestry.

Bernadette Boden was pleased to welcome her colleagues at the Sigmaringen University Location. In addition to the serious topics that were discussed, it was important to her to bring the guests closer to the beauty of the region and spend pleasant hours together.
