Neufra revitalizes the town twinning with fiesch through unique work of art

In a remarkable artistic moment, the municipality of Neufra plans to revive its city partnership with the Swiss community of Fiesch in a very special way. A unique work of art by the Neufra artist Wolfgang Brix will be handed over next weekend. The picture created with an exclusive painting technique should not only strengthen the cultural gang, but also bear a deep symbolic meaning.

Brix used the rocket technology developed by Gerhard Richter to design the background of his work of art. The artist is full of praise for judges, whom he calls "demigod", because his innovative techniques have initiated a new era in painting. In the foreground of the picture, the Rollibock is emblazoned, a mystical natural natural from Switzerland that has long been connected to the region. Mayor Reinhard Traub describes the Rollibock as a "dark shape that protects nature and glaciers". This symbolism falls at a time when the Fiesch region faces new challenges.

The meaning of the Rollibocks

The story of the Rollibock is closely intertwined with the region's glaciers. In the past, the citizens of Fiesch were very afraid of glacier breaks and the associated floods. In a desperate attempt that nature will not take over, the Fiescher even put a vow in the Vatican. "The glacier should not grow further," explains Traub. Ironically, the situation has turned: the glaciers are now melting what demanded the authorities a new trip to Rome in order to adapt the vow accordingly.

The deep blue and white tones that reflect the glaciers can be found in the background of the work of art. "We wanted something unique and symbolic," says Traub. This idea was inspired by an open-air theater piece in which the Rollibock played a central role. However, worries about the participation of the Neufraer in the high season led to the exchange not fully worked.

The connection between Neufra and Fiesch has a long history. The partnership, which was initiated by Mayor Johannes Hauser in the late 1980s, once bloomed. This initiative meant that pastors and forester were also sent to Fiesch for some time and intensified the bonds between the communities. But with the voting from Hauser, the partnership lost dynamics.

Unique art for a renewed friendship

Personal contact between the municipalities was never completely canceled. Traub, who traveled to Fiesch last year, emphasized the good memories of earlier times and recognized the meaning that this partnership has for both communities. With Wolfgang Brix, he found an extraordinary artist whose picture required numerous hours of creative work. "I plan everything and leave almost nothing to chance," explains Brix, who speaks of the ten to twenty layers of paint, which he faded out with a special spatula. Thanks to this technique, the work of art remains unmistakable and thus becomes real unique.

For the Neufraer Delegation, which sets off for the celebrations to Fiesch, there is also the opportunity to visit the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps. This exploration accompanies the historical and sustainable connection between the two regions.

The handover of the image is planned for a Saturday and symbolizes the revival of the city partnership between Neufra and Fiesch, which is now experiencing new perspectives and challenges. It remains to be seen how this relationship will develop in the future, especially in view of the interactions between art, nature and the changing conditions in the region.
