Bishop Wiesemann: Nocturnal piano dream between frustration and joy
Speyer, Deutschland - The Speyer Bishop Karl-Heinz Wiesemann passes passionately piano and uses the late hours to relax. "When I come from an appointment late, I'll sit on the wing and play," he told the German Press Agency. His improvisations are an important way for him to process emotions, be it for joy or frustration. In the quiet hours of the night, he doesn't bother anyone and feels this as a "privilege".
Although he already took piano lessons in his youth and has dealt with significant works, the bishop no longer gets enough to practice today. "I often set the goal of learning a bigger piece by the end of the year," said Wiesemann. Works by Franz Schubert, Claude Debussy and Johann Sebastian Bach are particularly on his list. While the seriousness of the practice has decreased in recent years, the devotion to music remains unbroken - whenever it allows time, he finds his way back to the piano to pursue his passion.
