Stade presents new disaster protection center: record construction in just months!
The new disaster protection center of the Stade district is built at a record pace. With an impressive area of 3,600 square meters, the hall positions itself in the Ottenbeck industrial estate as a central element for emergencies. At first glance, you could think that it is an ordinary warehouse, but appearance is deceptive: Inside tents are lined with colorful bunk beds, ready to quickly accommodate up to 100 people. In an emergency, up to 500 people could even be cared for. There are also sanitary containers that ensure a fundamental supply, said District Administrator Kai Seefried during a tour.
The hall is also used as a logistics center, where the complete equipment for disaster operations is stored. An office complex with multifunctional rooms for the civil protection staff is also planned. After a unanimous decision of the district council in June 2023, the twelve million euro project was already celebrated with a topping -out ceremony in September 2023. This quick action shows the high political awareness of disaster protection in the district, emphasizes Seefried, who sees the new facility as crucial for preparing for modern challenges.
