Würzburg, Deutschland - The mayor election in Würzburg brings with it a necessary second ballot. On May 4, 2025, Martin Heilig from Bündnis 90/The Greens were not enough for the absolute majority in the first ballot with 39.6 percent of the vote. Nevertheless, Holy secured first place and will therefore take up on May 18 in the runoff against Judith Roth-Jörg from the CSU, which came in second place with 23.9 percent. At 22.6 percent, Claudia Stamm (independently) missed the runoff election, while Eva from Vietinghoff-Scheel received 14 percent of the vote from the SPD. Around 96,000 citizens were called for election, with the turnout was 52.2 percent, slightly below the turnout of 53.61 percent in 2020. The polling stations in Würzburg closed at 6 p.m.
