On Tuesday afternoon, October 22nd, a fire alerted the Elmshorn volunteer fire brigade at the former Rewe market on the ice cellar. With five vehicles and 20 emergency services, the firefighters moved out and found a wooden shed fully in flames between the market and a noise barrier to the railways on site. Only shortly after 5:15 p.m. there was an all -clear: the fire had not caused any damage inside the market.
