On Wednesday morning, a serious work accident occurred in Hailing, near Leblfing in the Straubing-Bogen district, which was left behind with serious injuries. The accident occurred around 8.40 a.m. on a construction site where four workers were busy covering a roof. A car crane was used to transport the roof battens when a tragic incident suddenly occurred.

According to current information from the police, a 30-year-old worker used the crane from the scaffold with a remote control. Suddenly the crane unexpectedly lowered after a loud bang, which led to the fact that both the 30-year-old worker and his 38-year-old colleague were pinched from the pallet fork that was attached to the crane.

The two men had to be saved by the fire brigade before they were brought to nearby hospitals with medical support. While the 38-year-old worker was transported with a rescue helicopter, the 30-year-old worker was transported by a ambulance. The other two workers who were also on the scaffold remained unharmed and were spared by the incident.

In order to clarify the exact circumstances of the tragic accident, an expert was consulted after the public prosecutor was informed. The Straubing police took over the investigation to bring light to what happened and to determine those responsible.
