Ceremonial Haardter Kerwe: Janice Schmidt crowned as a new wine princess!
The anticipation in Haardt is great: Visitors to the Quetschekuchekerwe can celebrate by Tuesday and enjoy a very special news. On Friday evening, Janice Schmidt was crowned the new Haardter wine princess - an office she takes over by Clara Beyer, who led the tradition of wine princesses for two years. A very special spectator was present at this ceremony: Duke Julien Schmidt, Janice's brother, proudly follows the crowning glory.
As is common in such traditions, the attention of those present also has the special family tradition: siblings that occupy the representative offices of a place are a real rarity. Mayor Silvia Kerbeck commented on this with a smile and pointed out the special debate of royalty from last summer: "And both wear a crown." The Haardter can now look forward to this special constellation by spring 2025, since Julien Schmidt's term of office ends during this time.
an exciting program for the Kerwe
The Kerwe, a kind of festival or fair, offers citizens and visitors a wealth of activities and attractions. Silvia Kerbeck thanked all helpers who contributed to the smooth process and particularly emphasized the nine serving points that take care of the physical well -being of the guests. A highlight of the program will be the first Hofflohmarkt along the Kerwemile, which begins on Saturday at 2 p.m.
In addition, Kerbeck announced street music with five groups in the almond ring on Sunday from 2 p.m. A funny event also expects the guests: the squeezing target spit, a tradition that will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the Pergola. "Every goal wins," promised the mayor.
A special focus was on Kerbeck on the culinary delights of the festivities: the giant squeeze cake excited the senses of the guests. The deputy mayor Carina Helfferich played a crucial role. She managed to convince the Roth bakery from Haßloch to bake so big cakes for the event, which turned out to be a challenge because it is not easy to find a bakery for such large orders. "We didn't find anyone in Neustadt," noted Kerbeck.
The Kerwe combines tradition and modern celebrations - a festival that brings both locals and visitors together and strengthens the special sense of community in the region. While the wine festivals often indicate the region's enjoyment culture, the family binding of the wine princesses is particularly emphasized here and symbolizes the connection between the Haardter.
