Schmiedefeld stands before winter season dilemma: ski lift in danger!
in Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig, the future of the popular drag lift remains uncertain. The now insolvent operator has given up major plans for the winter season, and the city of Suhl is desperately looking for a new operator. A spokesman for the city administration explains that the city is working on a solution, but if nothing comes about, the lift could stand still throughout the winter. This would further reduce the already limited possibilities for Alpinski in Thuringia.
In the meantime, the preparations for the winter season are running in other ski areas, for example in Oberhof and Heubach. There, the snow cannons are to be used as soon as the temperatures allow it with an expected start to the season in early to mid -December. Operators of the ski areas hope that artificial snow can improve the conditions, while the operators hope for natural snow in Brotterode. The location is tense, not least because of the climate change that endangers the ski season. Further details on the challenges of the operators can be found in an article on www.mdr.de .Details | |
