Fresh vegetables and tradition: The Beutnerhof in Etzenricht celebrates 70 years

In the heart of Etzenricht, the Beutnerhof not only has a tradition, but also a remarkable story. This family -run company has already been active for over 700 years, and for seven decades it has specialized in growing vegetables.

Waltherstrasse is home to the Beutnerhof, an agricultural company that is managed by Thomas Beutner in the third generation. In 2022 he took over from his father Hans and continues what his ancestors started. The decision to concentrate on vegetable production fell 70 years ago, and today around 40 different types of vegetables are cultivated on around 4.8 hectares. These include common varieties such as carrots, onions and various types of cabbage, but also special types such as sweet potatoes and garlic find their place in the fields.

fresh vegetables directly from the field

The philosophy of Thomas Beutner is clear: freshness and quality are first placed. And you not only notice this in the products, but also with the harvest, which is largely handcrafted. The use of machines is minimized. To protect the plants, you use natural methods. For example, sheep's wool was used to keep wild animals like deer away from the delicate lettuce plants. "I have a little daughter. And of course it should eat our vegetables with a clear conscience," says Thomas and thus illustrates his intention to offer healthy food.

Customers appreciate these efforts: The reviews for the Beutnerhof are consistently positive online. "Best vegetables far and wide, always fresh from the field" emphasize the buyers. The fresh offer extends not only on the farm shop, which is well filled with numerous types of vegetables, but also during the weekly markets in the region that find more and more supporters. At the weekly markets in Weiden and Tirschenreuth, customers can purchase the products directly on site.

popular events and local attractions

Another highlight is the weekly farmers' market, which takes place every Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Beutnerhof. Not only fresh products from their own cultivation find their place here, but also regional specialties such as meat, cheese and fish. This variety not only attracts adults, the little visitors also get their money's worth through activities such as bobby car driving.

A visit is also worthwhile in October if fans of sauerkraut can stock up on freshly planed white cabbage. For those who like it more convenient, there are also furnished sauerkraut in the farm shop. And not to forget: In the Halloween era, the Beutnerhof turns into a real pumpkin paradise. Here you will find numerous varieties, including the popular Hokkaido pumpkin, which is ideal for hearty dishes.

The annual Hoffest, which takes place on the last Sunday in September, also attracts numerous visitors. In addition to delicious dishes that are prepared in the historic oven, guests can look forward to a colorful supporting program with live music and other attractions for children.

Overall, the Beutnerhof reflects the growing demand for regional and sustainable products with its offer and commitment to freshness and quality. The focus on ecological cultivation and the fusion of tradition and modernity make this place an indispensable part of the local community. Be it the weekly market, the children's activities or the Hoffest, the Beutnerhof remains a central point of contact for all lovers of fresh vegetables and regional products.
