Self -help day in Vohenstrauß: Support and information for those affected

In Vohenstrauß, the self-help contact point North Oberpfalz (SEKO) is preparing for a special day that will take place on September 1st as part of the Aegidia market. The self -help day, which will be organized this year as well as in the previous year, has established itself over the past few years as an important platform for the exchange and support of people with a wide variety of health and social challenges.

A total of 21 self -help groups will imagine that day. Between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., interested parties, those affected and their relatives have the opportunity to find out about the diverse topics of self -help. Particularly noteworthy is the commitment of the SEKO, which not only provides information stands, but also plans creative and entertaining actions. There will be the opportunity to learn more about how to start a self -help group or which existing groups could be suitable for yourself.

The importance of self -help groups

The campaign of the SEKO, which was launched in 2019, takes place for the fourth time. In recent years, this has been very well received, and the experiences show that a total of 500,000 people in Bavaria actively take part in self -help groups. In the region around Weiden, Neustadt/WN and Tirschenreuth, over 130 groups were created that cover a wide range of topics. The goal of these groups is mutual support at eye level, so that the path through the disease can be mastered more easily.

A central concern of the self -help groups is to create an environment in which the participants can speak more openly about their problems. It is often easier for these people to exchange ideas in a group, since each of the members has had similar experiences and can therefore understand each other better. The SEKo aptly describes it as "a piece of liberation, understand a piece". In these groups, those affected not only experience support, but also a feeling of the community that helps them not constantly see their illness in the foreground.

The self -help groups that will be presented on September 1 are diverse. From the self -help group for obesity to groups for depression, borderline or chronic inflammatory bowel diseases to specific groups such as "life without addiction" and "Narcotics Anonymous - Na" there is something for every person. Specialized facilities such as Dornrose e.V. and the women's shelter will also be represented. This broad variety of topics shows how important and valuable the exchange in self -help is.

The self -help contact point North Oberpfalz plays a crucial role in the networking and support of these groups. Your presence on self -help day enables visitors not only to receive information, but also to contact the contact points that can help you. These networking options are particularly invaluable for people who are new to self -help.

The initiative of the SEKO not only promotes awareness of self -help, but also makes an important contribution to strengthening the community and improving the quality of life of those affected. It is seen that the contact points and self -help programs not only positively influence individual life paths, but can also contribute to a healthier social attitude towards mental and physical illnesses. For the upcoming events, the organizers hope for a high number of visitors to continue to make the important work of self -help visible.
