Warning strikes in the port of Hamburg: Verdi announces demonstration

The port of Hamburg stands still because the Verdi union has initiated a warning strike. This industrial action is not the first of its kind in this important port. The employees have started striking and planning a demonstration on Tuesday morning to grant their demands.

The strike aims to increase the pressure on employers in the collective bargaining, in particular with regard to the hour's wages and shower surcharges of the port employees. Verdi demands an increase of three euros per hour retrospectively on June 1st, as well as a corresponding adjustment of the surcharges. In order to further underline your claims, another negotiation round between Verdi and the Central Association of German Seeborne companies (ZDS) for July 11th and 12th is planned.
