Wanka exhibition: Discover Art and Fate in the Seeon monastery!
In the Mesnerhaus of the monastery of the Traunstein district, a fascinating exhibition with works by the artist Franz Rudolf Wanka (1908 - 1976) can still be seen until March 9, 2025. This presentation illuminates Wanka's personal life and his artistic work from 1945 to the 1960s. Many originals that created Wanka under the simplest conditions in the refugee camp "Castle Seeon" offer an impressive insight into a time of change and new beginning. His motifs reflect the landscapes of the region as well as still life and portraits.
Wanka, born in Bohemia, found a new home in Seon after the Second World War. The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., admission is free. The exhibition is closed on Tuesdays from November. In addition, on November 10th and January 26th at 5 p.m. there will be a lead and lecture by Wanka's son, Knut Wanka, who gives interesting insights into his father's life. Further information can be found on the website of the Seeon monastery.
