From everyday life to nostalgia: where our things live in the past!
From everyday life to nostalgia: where our things live in the past!
A captivating special exhibition in the Simeonstift City Museum illuminates the change of our lifestyle of the past 100 years! In ten fascinating topics, including "living and household" and "everyday work", the exhibition shows over 200 exhibits that impressively demonstrate how our everyday life has changed dramatically. From nostalgic memorabilia to curiosities - the collected objects come from both the museum and from private rental providers from the region.
Around 10,000 objects are frolic in the households these days, while a century ago the average household counted only about 180 things. These were loved, maintained and often passed on over generations. The exhibition “discarded” gets to the bottom of the phenomenon: Why do you often end up with loved everyday objects in the attic or in the museum? This exciting show explains and shows how technical innovations, social upheavals and changing role ideas have changed our relationship with things and which objects ultimately fall victim to current taste. A visit that is worth it! You can find more details here .
