Tübinger hut after a ten -day conversion: a new meeting point in the Alps

in the picturesque Vorarlberg, at a majestic height of 2,200 meters, there is a significant event: the inauguration of the newly renovated Tübinger hut. After six long years of the extensive renovation and modernization, the shelter of the German Alpine Club (DAV) will be ceremoniously opened next weekend.

strength on the altitudes

The Tübinger Hütte, which has been home to hikers and mountain athletes since 1908, is on a challenging location. To get there, you need an ascent of about six hours from the valley. This made the construction work with great challenges. The mountain peaks in the Garneratal not only offer breathtaking views, but also logistical problems, since building materials had to be delivered almost exclusively with a helicopter. Up to two tons of material can be transported per flight, which made the support of the air transport essential for the conversion.

The importance of modernization

Matthias Lustig, Managing Director of the DABingen section of the DAV, comments on the purposes of the extensive investments of around one million euros. "We want to preserve the hut in the long term and at the same time maintain its unique charm," says Lustig. The need for the renovation was uncovered by dilapidated lines, moist walls and an old -fashioned interior design. Particular attention was paid to the preservation of historical elements, especially in the dining room, which should stay as cozy as ever.

A new era begins

The inauguration ceremony will be more than just a kick -off event for the hut. It will offer a place of encounter and relaxation for people from Tübingen and the surrounding area. "We want every Tübinger to be in the Tübinger hut," emphasizes funny. On the opening weekend, a varied program with yoga, hikes and traditional festivities is offered, which means that the hut should not only become a simple rest area, but also a lively place of the community.

challenges and success story

The past six years were characterized by challenges that included both interrupted construction work due to the change of weather and the need to consider guests in the hut. But despite these adversity, the community is proud of everything that has been achieved. Matthias Lustig is particularly pleased with the installation of a small hydropower plant that will provide the hut with renewable energy in the future. This innovative step shows the DAV's focus on environmentally friendly practices and sustainable tourism.

conclusion: a place to linger

The freshly renovated Tübinger hut is not only proof of the tireless use of the volunteers and craftsmen, but also a place that will strengthen the sense of community in the region. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature and at the same time become part of a traditional story that has been written in the Alps for over a century.
