Innovative summer cooling: Gryfino relies on free water showers and drinking water stations

How to cool down in the hot city

The summer heat can sometimes become unbearable in the streets of the city. But in the West Pomeranian city of Gryfino, the residents found a clever solution to cool off. Andreas Schwarze, a resident of the twin city of Gartz, discovered this refreshing method during his visit to Gryfino and was enthusiastic about the simple but effective cooling.

The public water showers in Gryfino exude a fine fog that offers a pleasant refreshment at hot temperatures. Andreas Schwarze was particularly impressed by how grateful people accepted the cooling on warm days. In addition to the water showers, the system also has a drinking tap and a dog drinks that complete the concept of public cooling.

The psychological effect of this cooling should not be underestimated: people who refresh themselves under the cool fog feel less stressful for summer and enjoy the warm days more. Andreas Schwarze hopes that similar cooling options will also be created in his home town to learn from the positive experiences in Gryfino.

Free bus line and other amenities

In addition to the refreshing water showers, Gryfino also offers a free bus line to the bathing lake. During the holiday season, residents can go back to the lake twice a day to cool off there. This initiative shows how important it is to offer the residents opportunities for relaxation and refreshment.

In Prenzlau there are already similar offers to the water sprinklers on the Marktberg, which are particularly popular with children. These little refreshments in urban space help to ensure that people in the city feel comfortable and can stand better.
