Peter Krause cleans up: garbage scandal on Lake Lychen hits waves!
Peter Krause, a committed environmentalist, used his free time to free the Region around Lychen from garbage. Over late summer, he and his wife collected waste in different locations, including bathing areas and in the surrounding forests. Despite previous clean -up campaigns, Krause still found old materials such as car tires and even a washing machine that he pulled out of the water. His determination of keeping nature clean is also evident in the use of diving goggles to fishing broken glass from the Zenssee. "I can't understand why people deal so carefree with the environment," he said disappointed about the garbage problem.
Krauses engagement often has been unnoticed or smiled at in the past, but it cannot be discouraged. "I think that if all healthy social service recipients were tackling with them, we could achieve a lot," he emphasizes. His wish is to sensitize more people to the responsibility for cleanliness and to persuade the authorities to act, especially at the heavily flashed areas such as the old marina. Despite the obstacles to which he regularly encounters, he remains motivated and hopes that his use can initiate a wave of change to protect nature together.
