A new year of training: 2650 young people start in craft professions

The new training year brings a positive turn for the craft in the Ulm region. Over 2650 young people enter into a manual training, which corresponds to an increase of around three percent compared to last year. This development emphasizes the relevance of the craft, especially in times when qualified specialists are becoming increasingly in demand.

The training numbers in professions that deal with climate -relevant activities and in the food trade are particularly strong. The new apprentices come for a wide variety of backgrounds. Over 450 of them have the Abitur, around 1100 have a secondary school leaving certificate and around 850 young people complete an apprenticeship with a secondary school leaving certificate. This shows that the craft appeals to a diverse target group and the doors are wide open for all school leavers.

Tobias Mehlich, the managing director of the Ulm Chamber of Crafts, emphasizes how important this type of training is for the personal development of young people.
