Ulm: one -way street on Karlstrasse - diversions until mid -August
In downtown Ulm there are currently restrictions on road traffic, which are important not only for drivers, but also for residents and shops in the vicinity. Since July 23, Karlstraße has become a one -way street due to construction work. This measure should continue until August 23, while district heating Ulm GmbH is moving new district heating lines for the Böfingen district
One-way street and diversions: Effects on the traffic
The one-way street regulation affects the area between Frauenstraße and Stuttgarter Straße, where traffic can only flow east, i.e. out of town. Drivers who want to go to the city center must expect a detour via König-Wilhelm-Straße, Olgastraße and Frauenstraße. Such short -term changes in traffic can often also affect business in the area, since the accessibility must be guaranteed.
An important infrastructure project for the future
The relocation of the district heating lines serves long-term goals and contributes to improving energy supply in ULM. District heating plays a crucial role in reducing CO2 emissions and supports the city in achieving its environmental policy goals. These investments in the infrastructure are necessary to increase the quality of life of the residents and to promote sustainable development.
Overall, citizens and road users have to prepare for the changed conditions until the work was completed at the end of August. However, it is to be hoped that the efforts of the city and the FUG will ultimately benefit the citizens by enabling a more environmentally friendly and efficient use of energy.
