Ulm relies on security: new weapons ban zones and cleanliness strategies

The city of Ulm plans significant changes to increase the feeling of security of the citizens and improve cleanliness. From autumn, several weapon ban zones are to be set up in strategically important areas.

new strategies for more security

Mayor Martin Ansbacher (SPD) has announced that the city wants to create a prohibition of weapons to regulate the handling of dangerous objects. "We found that many people no longer feel as comfortable as before," explained Ansbacher. This should counteract both the loss of the feeling of security among the population and the increase in violent incidents, especially in an environment affected by drug crime.

Important locations of weapon ban zones

The planned prohibition zones could apply, among other things, in the area of the main train station, at Münsterplatz and in the fishing district. These measures are part of a comprehensive plan, which Thuringia strikes a direction similar to other cities in Baden-Württemberg, where such zones are already established, for example in Heilbronn or Stuttgart. The city strives to control and sanction the carrying of weapons more effectively.

Advanced video surveillance and cultural measures

Another focus is on the expansion of video surveillance, especially in heavily frequented areas such as the Lederhof. This is intended to help reduce drug -related crime. At the same time, the city plans to give the Lederhof a new image through cultural offers and thus increase the attractiveness of the quarter. "We no longer want to have a certain scene," said Ansbacher. This step is part of an offensive strategy to combat the problem.

cleaning of the city: a holistic approach

In terms of cleanliness, the city administration and the disposal companies Ulm (EBU) are planning the introduction of a new “Stadtpunstelleit”, which is supposed to deal specifically with garbage sizes. Controls in the city center are to be intensified in order to remedy the problem of pollution from private waste revenue, mainly in public garbage cans. A reporting point is also created to which citizens can report grievances anonymously.

Efficient combating of garbage tuners

In order to significantly improve the cityscape, larger and more trash cans in Ulm will also be set up in the future. Ansbacher emphasizes that "Ulm is not a dirty city", but increased control is necessary to ensure cleanliness. Covered measures should also lead to garbage sinners being held responsible faster. In particular, throwing away cigarette butts is to be punished with a fine of 50 euros. Innovative cleaning machines are also to be used to remove dry chewing gum.

With these comprehensive measures, the city of Ulm pursues the goal of strengthening both the feeling of security of the citizens and creating a clean and livable cityscape for everyone. The initiatives are part of a long -term concept that is supposed to improve the quality of life in Ulm.
