Large exercise in Homberg: Emergency services fight chaos and forest fire!
A dramatic scenario flated in Homberg last Saturday: over 1300 emergency services practiced under extreme conditions with a large -scale rescue exercise. The day was characterized by a mass carambolage with a fully occupied coach, a helicopter crash that triggered a forest fire, and the exit of dangerous substances. This exercise, which was in planning for two years, aimed to optimize the cooperation of various rescue organizations, including the fire brigade, police and Bundeswehr.
The greatest deployment scenario provided for a mass carambolage on the district road, in which over 105 fictional injuries were to be complained about. A rescue helicopter was used to transport the "injured" to the surrounding clinics. In the meantime, another scenario was involved in an accident in another scenario, which meant additional challenges for the emergency services. The exercise placed the highest demands on the coordination and reactionability of everyone involved, with over 200 fire engines, 50 ambulances and a tiger fighter helicopter used. Another highlight was the supply of around 850 meals through the German Red Cross Vogelsberg.
The entire exercise was viewed as an impressive example of the emergency prevention and efficiency of the emergency services, and the range of the exercise participants could not be better demonstrated, said district fire inspector Marcell Büttner. report on www.oberhessische-zeitung.de .
