Speed controls on L151: motorcyclists risk fines and driving bans
irresponsible driving behavior on the L 151 leads to drastic measures
On July 5, 2024, the Schopfheim police station carried out a speed control on the L 151 towards Todtmoos between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The main focus was on monitoring motorcycle traffic. Although the traffic was rather low at that time, a total of three considerable speed violations were found.
The violations were committed by two Swiss and a German motorcyclist, who now have to expect sensitive fines and driving bans. Another two Swiss motorcyclists were confronted on site by the Waldshut-Tiengen public prosecutor's office with the seizure of their motorcycles and driver's licenses. Due to their forbidden driving behavior and the speeds driven, they are determined against them because of the crime of the "forbidden motor vehicle race".
This incident illustrates the dangers of ruthless behavior in road traffic and the need for increased controls to ensure the safety of all road users. Road safety and compliance with the traffic rules should always be a top priority to avoid accidents and serious consequences.
The police therefore call up all road users to behave responsibly in road traffic and to comply with the applicable speed limits. The security of everyone can only be guaranteed by mutual consideration and compliance with the rules.
It remains to be hoped that such drastic measures, as in this case, help to sharpen awareness of safe driving behavior and prevent future violations.
