Illegally disposed of poisonous barrels in Freiburg: police are looking for witnesses!

A attentive cyclist discovered several illegally disposed plastic barrels on the K5100 near Freiamt on Wednesday evening, October 16, 2024. After the first check, it turned out that there were ten blue barrels with a black lid, filled with an unknown liquid chemical. Apparently the barrels, possibly by a small van or a car with a trailer, were thrown out of the lane at two different places. One of the barrels was damaged so that liquid had left.

The city of Emmendingen and the fire brigade took over the elaborate rescue of the barrels from the difficult area. The specialist service "Trade/Environment" of the Freiburg police headquarters has taken over the investigation and is urgently looking for witnesses. Notes on the origin of the chemicals or to suspicious vehicles that were on the route described are requested. Witnesses can report around the clock to the Emmendingen police station on 07641-5820.
