175 years of Michaelistift Gefell: a place full of hope and education

The Michaelistift Gefell, one of the oldest foundations in Central Germany, celebrates its 175th anniversary with a newly updated and expanded chronicle. This gives a fascinating insight into the eventful history of the foundation, which was founded in 1849 by Pastor Georg F. Bauerfeind and has since helped countless people in emergencies and disabilities. Currently, 65 women and men of different ages live in the Gefeller Abbey, which not only offers a safe home, but also houses diaconal day care and the life culture house.

The success of the Michaelistif is impressive. The facility has expanded its activities and now runs schools in Bad Lobenstein and Weimar, where 37 children are currently being taught in inclusive learning groups. The chronicle illuminates them full of stories that document the commitment and development of the Michaelistif. Interested parties can order the printed brochure for 5 euros.
