new perspectives on product design: an exhibition with social focus

In the current exhibition "Innovative Design Insights", students from the renowned Bauhaus University Weimar present their latest product designs. These works go beyond mere aesthetics and are dedicated to current social issues such as mobility, material design and social commitment.

insights into the variety of product design

One of the outstanding exhibits is Mira Müller's new interpreted designer chair. Her master's thesis “beyond the norm” critically deals with patriarchal structures in design. Through the skillful application of Judith Butler's theories, she manages to transform the iconic chair of Arne Jacobsen into a symbol of equality and diversity.

Another impressive project comes from Maria Clara Valencia Carmona. In her bachelor thesis "Design for everyone", she focuses on homeless people and their needs. By examining the social design, it shows how innovative design can not only improve the lives of those affected, but also strengthens the support systems in society.

virtual and physical presentation

The work of the students can be admired online both online in a virtual gallery and on site at this year's “Summaery” design fair. From July 11th to 14th, the innovative designs can be seen in the Van-de-Velde building of the University of Weimar. Further information on the exhibition can be found at www.uni-weimar.de.

This exhibition not only offers an insight into the creative world of product design, but also stimulates thinking about the role of design in society. It shows how social problems can be tackled through innovative designs and new perspectives can be created. Visitors have the opportunity to discover inspiring ideas and to be impressed by the variety of design spectrum.
