Lions Charity Run: Run for peace - be in Weimar!
On Tuesday, October 8th, the Lions Charity Runs running group is expected in Weimar. The participants, including eight runners from Poland, Ukraine and Northern Germany, have covered the impressive route from Warsaw to Brussels to collect donations for victims of war in Ukraine. The stage leads from Mellingen to Weimar, whereby the runners are accompanied by Rüdiger Mayer and Claus Schneider of the Lions Club Weimar Classic at a distance of around ten kilometers. Anika Schwartze-Schams, the head of the sports and school office, will also run part of the route.
interested runners can join the group while they are expected at certain points in the city: at 3:30 p.m. at the Kipperquelle inn, at 3:45 p.m. to Goethe's garden house and at 3:53 p.m. at the Herzogin-Anna-Amalia library. At 4 p.m., the participants are welcomed by Mayor Ralf Kirsten in the town hall. The Lions Charity Run is reminiscent of the 1945 Potsdam conference and the EU accession of ten countries 20 years ago. To date, the Charity runs of the Lions have collected more than $ 400,000 for various purposes. The Lions Club Weimar Classic will contribute to support with a donation and the Erfurt company BOS with medical materials according to information from www.thueringer-allgemeine.de .
