Mindfuck in Weimar: Art and the dark sides of the propaganda
In Weimar there is an extraordinary event that illuminates the connection between art, music and the often dangerous world of media manipulation. On Monday, September 2 at 8 p.m., the event "Mindfuck - Media, Music and Manipulation" invites you to critically question your own perception. The focus is on hidden truths and the winding paths of the propaganda.
The event brings together various talents: the writer and media scientist Christian Hardinghaus not only appears as a reader, but also brings his sound knowledge of war propaganda and its mechanisms, which he deals with in his current book. His goal is to sensitize the listeners for the subtle and dangerous techniques of manipulation that are often used in modern communication.
artistic performance with profound message
The artistic side of the event is designed by a group of talented musicians. Carin Levine (flute), Christina Bernhardt (voice), Daniel Gutierrez (violoncello) and Johannes K. Hildebrandt (synthesizer) have put together a program that combines both literary and musical elements. Particularly noteworthy is the premiere of "Fucks", an innovative music theater based on a story specially designed for Weimar. These “Mindfuck Stories”, which are read by Hardinghaus, open up new perspectives for the audience and invite them to deal with aspects of reality and fiction.
With this concept it becomes clear that the event not only serves the entertainment, but also stimulates an important discourse on today's media and its influence on our perception. With their respective art forms, the artists and the author contribute to the fact that the audience actively thinks and reflects.
The evening is divided into two parts: While the first part is strongly focused on the performance, the second part offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the theoretical aspects of media manipulation. Hardinghaus will show those present how current political propaganda works and what skills are necessary to prepare themselves against manipulative behavior.
The event takes place in the DNT foyer and promises to become a highlight in the Weimar cultural calendar. Rolf C. Hemke, director of the Weimar Art Festival, has emphasized the importance of such a critical-artistic dialogue and thus shows how tight art and social issues are interwoven. Critical argument is not only desirable, but necessary so as not to be lost in today's flood of information.
If you have an interest in profound culture and how media influence our thinking, this event is a must. Let yourself be inspired and encouraged to question the norms and to shape your own view of the world.
