SPD politician Scholz talks about financing important tasks and help for Ukraine in the citizens' dialogue in Weimar

Financing of the Bundeswehr secured: Scholz defends household cleaning

The Chancellor Scholz defended the recent budget cleaning against criticism at a citizens' dialogue in Weimar. The SPD politician emphasized that it was possible to provide the necessary funds for the security of the country without causing any restrictions in Germany. In particular, the support of Ukraine could be ensured without neglecting the Bundeswehr.

Scholz said that the Bundeswehr would be better equipped in the future than before. This is an important step to strengthen the country's defense ability. The CDU chairman Merz had previously criticized Defense Minister Pistorius and described him as a loser of household cleaning. However, Pistorius can expect an increase of 1.2 billion euros for the Bundeswehr, although he originally asked for six billion euros.

The funding of the Bundeswehr is thus secured and important tasks of the country can continue to be fulfilled. This message was announced on July 6th, 2024 in the Deutschlandfunk program.
