with rope, posters and films: Weimar students inspire with creative advertising campaigns

The students of the Bauhaus University Weimar realized impressive projects outside the campus as part of the annual show and the Summaery 2024. This year they surprise passers -by with visual art at the train station in Apolda and show their creative advertising campaigns in the Atrium shopping center in Weimar.

An appeal for democratic participation by visual campaigns

A central topic that the students of visual communication have devoted to are the upcoming state elections. In cooperation with the State Center for Political Education Thuringia, numerous campaigns, films, posters and installations were created. These are intended to encourage themselves to participate in democratic processes such as the state election on September 1st.

The campaign emphasizes that every person makes a variety of decisions every day. Through films, posters and public interventions, the students show everyday decision -making situations. The core message is: make the decision that really counts - on September 1st.

knitting art in Apolda and at the Weimar campus

A particularly creative project is the large -format knitting work that train travelers and passers -by at the train station in Apolda expect. With knitting sheets of a total of 50 square meters, students of the Faculty of Art and Design tell the history of the once important knitting city of Apolda. This was once an important knitted size supplier of the former GDR. The installation also stimulates reflection on the future of sustainable regional textile production. Introduced QR codes lead to spots that offer further information.

These impressive knitting work was implemented by art teaching students in the project module "Cast on Knitting Culture". Cooperation with local companies in Bad Sulza and Apolda gave the students exciting insights into the rare professional field of knitting.

Another knitting banner expects travelers on the facade of the Hammer knitting in Bad Sulza. But the focus of this project was not just the local history. Rather, the students approached knitting as an action and attitude in a variety of ways. They asked for a shared knitting and shaping and recognized the strength of the community.

other highlights of the summaery

A visit is also worthwhile for the exhibition "Traces of Recreation", the exhibition on the Lyonel Art Prize and the "Summer Reel" with film screenings on July 13th on Theaterplatz. Interested parties can find all information about the summaery program at uni-weimar.de/summaery.

The advertising work and creative projects of the students not only inspire as visual highlights, but also set important impulses for democratic participation and dealing with regional history and future issues.
