Future-setting design: online gallery with theses at the Bauhaus University Weimar
insight into the creative design landscape of the Bauhaus University Weimar
The Bauhaus University Weimar presents a fascinating collection of theses with the online gallery "Traces of Recreation" that deal with topics such as mobility, material design and industrial design. The exhibition includes a total of 16 projects that offer insights into the diverse world of design.
design for a more inclusive future
One of the projects presented in "Traces of Recreation" is the master's thesis by Mira Müller entitled "Feeling Gender". Müller examines patriarchal structures in product design and critically deals with the male dominance in the industry. Due to the modification of an iconic chair, she wanted to make patriarchal structures tangible through design -related actions.
The study is based on Judith Butler's theory, which says that certain behaviors can be learned and changed through conscious action. Müller combines design theory with practice to promote the discussion about gender roles in design and contribute to the creation of a more inclusive design practice.
design for social needs
Another impressive work in the online gallery is the bachelor thesis by Maria Clara Valencia Carmona, which focuses on the needs of homeless people. In her work with the title "Proactive Design in the Social Area", she examines how design can help improve the quality of life of homeless people.
Valencia Carmona developed a flexible room for day care facilities in which homeless people can work on their mail in a private atmosphere. By creating stability, comfort and privacy, your design would like to help those affected to better manage their daily challenges.
an outlook on the future of design
The work from "Traces of Recreation" not only offers an insight into the current design landscape of the Bauhaus University Weimar, but also encourage you to think about the future development of product design. The diverse approaches and innovative ideas of the graduates show the enormous potential of the design to address social challenges and to cause positive changes.
