Education in the Wesermarsch: apprenticeship vs. studies compared to Bremerhaven
The Wesermarsch presents itself as a region with a clear professional change in the structural change, in which teaching is the most important entry into professional life. The current census data shows that almost half of the population in this region, specifically 46.7 percent of the 75,460 persons, has completed an apprenticeship or dual training. This means that a total of 35,220 Wesermärschler achieves this apprenticeship, while the value in the neighboring city of Bremerhaven with 36.7 percent, i.e. 37.010 of 98,400 inhabitants, is somewhat lower.
Another important characteristic of the Wesermarsch is the comparatively high proportion of technical school graduates, which is 11.6 percent, in contrast to the 8.6 percent in Bremerhaven. These figures illustrate the industrial character of the region, in which many young people primarily want to gain practical work experience. An interesting aspect are also the approximately 460 inhabitants of the Wesermarsch, who have acquired their technical school in the former GDR. In Bremerhaven there are 440 such cases.

degrees and professional career
The survey also covers the number of degrees in both areas. In the Wesermarsch, 3.7 percent of the population acquired a bachelor's or master's degree. Bremerhaven, which has its own university with a variety of courses, is only 3.9 percent. This suggests that many students have either chosen Bremerhaven as a place of study at short notice or leave the city after the training.
The distribution of the doctoral titles shows a similar picture: 0.7 percent of the Weser Märschler have received his doctorate, which corresponds to 550 people. Bremerhaven is slightly at the front with 900 doctors, which is 0.9 percent of the population. The difference in education in the region cannot be overlooked, and it remains to be seen how the upcoming census data will affect these structures.
