Mick Schumacher: Long-distance World Cup as a new challenge!
At the beginning of the new season in the long-distance world championship (WEC), Mick Schumacher focuses entirely on his tasks at Alpine. After his time as a Formula 1 replacement man of Mercedes and a previous career as a regular driver for Haas, where he completed 43 Grand Prix starts, he decided that the WEC has its highest priority. "Formula 1 was always my dream, but now my focus is the WEC," says Schumacher. His new rivalry with Ferdinand Habsburg, which is humorous around appearance and haircut, could also ensure incentive.
The long-distance World Cup starts at the end of the month in Qatar and will climax at the prestigious 24-hour race in Le Mans in June. Habsburg, an experienced racing driver and Le Mans winner of the LMP2 class 2021, recently launched the "Rebel Team". This project aims to offer fans access to a normally unreachable motorsport experience.
The Rebel Team and the Membership Pass
The "Rebel Team" from Habsburg is an innovative concept. The initiative, which is underlined by the sale of limited “Membership Pass”, enables buyers to actively actively participate in racing. For the base price of 500 euros, the members receive numerous advantages, including:
- Selection of the paints of the cars
- Selection of the start number
- Selection of the teammates of Habsburg
- virtual race against professionals
- VIP access at live events, including the 24 hours of Le Mans
- Participation in team events
This innovative concept is further explained on the 6 hours of Fuji (Japan) between September 9th and 11th. Habsburg expressed that the project is shaped by the thought of giving the fans a little back and enabling them a direct say in racing.
Schumacher's progress and goals in the WEC
Last season Schumacher was able to achieve a respectable third place at the 6-hour race in Fuji. Despite the success, however, he does not see the podium as the primary goal, because his main concern is to further promote the program development at Alpine. Team boss Philippe Sinault emphasizes Schumacher's meticulousness and his willingness to share knowledge. After a motion defect in his 2024 LE Mans mission, Schumacher pulls important teachings that he would like to implement in the coming season.
The history of motorsport, which goes back to the 19th century, also plays a role in the current events. Motorsport has developed from a test run for the automotive industry into one of the most popular sports in the world that appeals to millions of fans. Security standards and technologies have continuously improved and offer a test environment for innovations that are ultimately also used in series vehicles.
The new communication and competitive dynamics in the WEC, especially between Schumacher and Habsburg's projects, will certainly be exciting. Both drivers pursue their goals with passion and commitment, while they support those who share the fascination of motorsport.
The developments in the long-distance world championship will be exciting, since both Habsburg and Schumacher implement their ambitions and ideas. The fans can hope for an extraordinary seasonal highlight.
